I picked this up several months ago at Circle Wines & Liquor in DC. The woman there who often steers me well said it was one of the best wines she had ever had. I can see why.
The Wine Advocate gave this 97 points, but said the winemaker was shooting for a French style. I can't see that. I love new world wines, and prefer this to anything I have had from France. This is a very smooth, deeply flavored wine. The fruit is not over powering, but it shines through. After the burst of fruit flavor begins to subside, it is replaced by wonderful floral perfume that fills the mouth and nose and lingers until the next sip. This is wine to close your eyes and savor as you drink it. It would go very well with a rich roast beef, but it is equally great in my view to enjoy on its own. I would give this about a 4.5/5 on my personal scale. It is a wine worthy of any special occasion, especially if the special occasion is a gorgeous autumn day and a fine dinner. I drank this in October 2011. I could not taste much age in the wine at all - this vintage has many stellar years left in it.Via iPad
